Frequently asked Questions

Why should I hire a college essay coach?

Strong college essays go beyond flawless grammar—they’re about authentic storytelling, clear strategy, and showcasing your unique voice. As a coach, I guide students through a streamlined, supportive process that encourages meaningful reflection and purposeful writing. Working with a coach saves time, eases stress at home, and helps create essays that genuinely connect with admissions officers.

What types of essays do you assist with?

I support students with a wide range of essays, including the Common App personal statement, supplemental essays, personal insight questions, honors college essays, scholarship essays, and letters of continued interest. I am well-versed in working with UCAS and CAO and am happy to help you produce the different writing style needed for those applications.

When is the best time to start working on college essays?

Ideally, students begin during the summer before senior year. However, I’ve successfully helped students at all stages—even those starting as late as December. Whether you’re beginning from scratch or polishing a draft, I’m here to help.

Do you write essays for students?

No. My role is to help students discover their authentic voice and tell their own story. College admissions readers know when adults or AI write the essays! I provide guidance, support, and perspective for each student.

Do you work with students outside of your local area?

Absolutely! I provide virtual coaching to students nationwide—and internationally as well.

Can you help if I already have a draft?

Yes! Whether your draft is just an initial idea or nearly complete, I provide detailed feedback and help with revisions at any stage.

How do you personalize your coaching to fit each student’s needs?

Every student is unique, so I tailor my approach based on individual goals, strengths, and challenges. Whether a student needs help brainstorming ideas or refining final drafts, I meet them where they are and provide targeted guidance that empowers their authentic voice.

What if my student feels overwhelmed or stuck during the writing process?

That’s completely normal! I offer encouragement, structure, and proven strategies to break down the process into manageable steps. My goal is to reduce stress and build confidence, so students feel supported every step of the way.

How does working with a coach improve a student’s essay compared to working alone?

A coach provides objective, expert feedback and accountability, helping students avoid common pitfalls and make strategic choices. With my guidance, essays become more focused, authentic, and compelling—qualities that catch the attention of admissions officers.

What sets you apart from other college essay coaches?

I combine deep experience with a personalized, student-centered approach. I focus not just on editing but on helping students discover their unique stories and express themselves confidently. My supportive, approachable style makes the process enjoyable while delivering results that truly stand out.
